About Us

January 9th, 2011

If they could talk…would you listen? I think most of us wish animals could talk to us, but unfortunately they cannot. They need our help. I started The Shelter Shack to lend my voice to those animals that need it. I plan to have some fun with this blog, and you’ll see that some of the stories here are written by a cute critter – also know as The Shack Pack! I know critters can’t write, but hey I did say I planned on having fun with this blog, so cut me some slack.

I’ve been involved in animal rescue for many years and it’s very rewarding and very heartbreaking at the same time. Millions of animals are euthanized in shelters throughout the US every year – mostly due to lack of space to house the animals. This is just unacceptable. I hope you agree, and I hope you will join me in becoming an advocate for the homeless animals. Here are some things you can do to help make a difference:

  • adopt your next pet from a shelter not a pet store
  • spay or neuter your pet
  • volunteer your time at a shelter
  • become a foster parent
  • make a donation to your local shelter

It just takes one person to make a difference. Are you that one person?

I hope you’ll enjoy the stories presented here, and if you would like to do more, please consider donating your time or money to an area animal shelter. They could sure use your help! Oh, and by the way, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of The Shelter Shack’s merchandise is donated to area animal shelters. If you would like to learn more about the Shack Pack “authors”, stop by the Shack Pack section under the About Us tab.
