Tri-State Collie Rescue – Columbus, OH

June 8th, 2010 No comments

Tri-State Collie Rescue is near and dear to my heart as that is where I adopted Duke. Established in 1989, Tri State Collie Rescue is a group of concerned volunteers who seek to promote the welfare of the Collie breed. This is accomplished through their networking and coordinating efforts with various rescue organizations, dog shelters, humane societies, and members of the communities.

Tri State Collie Rescue has a combined fifty years experience with the collie breed. They are entirely self-supported through fundraising events along with individual and corporate donations. For each collie adopted from Tri State Collie Rescue, a required donation helps to replenish their funds to help with the next rescue collie in need.

If you would like to help out this wonderful organization, they do accept donations via Paypal and are always in need of volunteers and foster homes. To learn more about this organization please visit their website at http://www.tristatecollierescue.net.

June 8th, 2010 No comments

The Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter is a temporary home for dogs that are found on the streets by the county dog wardens. Dogs are held for 72 hours in order for the owner to claim them. After the holding period, unclaimed dogs are available for adoption.

An experienced staff member will help with advice and coaching after the dog has gone home. All adopted dogs are spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter. The County’s very modest adoption fee includes:

  • Dog license
  • An adoption kit with specially prepared training literature
  • Initial vaccines
  • Spay/neuter
  • Dog food

They participate in many projects in an attempt to place as many dogs as possible including weekly television showings and “on-site” promotions.

If you would like to help out this wonderful organization, they are always in need of volunteers and foster homes. To learn more about this organization please visit their website at http://www.cuyahogadogs.com.

Canine Lifeline – Cleveland, OH

June 8th, 2010 No comments

Canine Lifeline is an all volunteer organization with a mission to save adoptable dogs from being euthanized at shelters due to overcrowding or treatable medical conditions such as heartworm. All of their dogs are in foster homes throughout northeast Ohio.

All Canine Lifeline dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, up-to-date on vaccinations including a one-year rabies, and are on monthly heartworm preventative. In the warmer months of the year, the dogs are also on a flea and tick preventative. Since all of the dogs come from shelters and have been stray or abandoned at least once in their lives, they want to make sure that the dog’s next home is for keeps. That’s why each adoption comes with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a perfect match before the adoption is finalized.

If you would like to help out this wonderful organization, they do accept donations via Paypal and are always in need of volunteers and foster homes. To learn more about this organization please visit their website at http://www.caninelfieline.org.

The Friendship APL is a private, independent, non-profit humane society founded in Elyria, Ohio in 1957. They receive no government funding and depend on the generosity and financial support of friends and neighbors, and on various fundraisers, to serve the people and animals of Lorain County.

The Friendship APL does not euthanize pets based on time limits or to make space for other pets. They schedule incoming pets to make certain that they have room to house and care for the pets.

They have a wonderful staff that will help you select the proper pet for your family and lifestyle. They also counsel people to prevent future problems.
